Susan Rodman– wife, mother, runner, writer, musician. You are most likely to find me at home teaching school and writing my heart out.
Two years ago in April, after running a Spartan race, I discovered a small lump in my breast. I worried over it till fall, then had it checked out. It was inconclusive on some tests, highly troubling on others. I determined, with the help of a lot of prayer, research, and health-minded studies, to pursue a strict plant-dominated keto diet and to embark on my own running journey of a 1000 miles, which I did. Running for me is like flying to a bird. I’m free.
The earliest dated journaling I have of mine begins at ten years old. My favorite past-time as a girl was to walk the fields of our four hundred acre farm in Alaska with my notebook in hand, pick a patch of tall grass, lay in the middle of its green nest, and look up at the sky. Running captures this same feeling of serenity and freedom, and I often inhale writing inspiration through this outlet.
The world of music opened for me at nine years old, when I began to take piano lessons and sing in a school choir. To this day, these two things never fail to bring out the heart and soul of words for me, and I thank God for this wonderful gift.
I can’t choose between running, writing and singing, and I often find inspiration doing all three at once-hence the blog name:) My goal is to oxygen-saturate the readers with hope, encouragement, and real-life stories. We all run this road of life- sometimes at a crawl, sometimes faster than our legs can carry us. As the Spartan racer would say, “AROO!” We’re here to cheer each other on.
